Silent Lover

SILENT LOVER -- A Petrarchan Sonnet

My love for you transcends the golden sky,
That glistens as an ocean of starlight;
It brings warmth beneath this curtain of white
That governs my soul, so frozen and shy.
I keep this secret without knowing why
It must stay silent; This will to fight
And push aside all logic for the right
To touch your sullen face, it will not die.
So long as the sun shall rise at red morn'
And twilight sings shades of gray to the moon
My heart will not weaken in its resolve.
In this life or another, one day soon,
Your wall of ice will begin to dissolve
And from my lips words of love shall be torn.
