The Race

by Jenny   Mar 26, 2006

The pounding of my heart ,
Just before we began to start.
The sound of the gun,
Which made us run.

The adrenaline was pumping,
My heart was thumping.
Every next step was hurting,
As I kept on spurting.

I kept going with the need,
Of an impressive speed.
Overtaking and running faster,
Sometimes feeling like the master.

I raced to the finish,
My lead began to diminish.
My heart was pounding, for the gold.
And for it my heart was sold.

I finished the race,
It had been a relentless chase.
I gave all and came first - no regrets.
I did what I wanted - I won.
