Portrait From An Artist

by Kaylee   Mar 26, 2006

Paint me something, my artist,
As I need to see your words.
Ragged breathing turns into Mountains.
Rivers streaming through.
Crystal water calming the fears
Which became volcanoes in your soul.

Stroke the board with
Colored brushes;
Leave behind the trail of hope.
Thin lines connect the raging
Sea in your eyes with
The secrets you hold.

Draw me these things
That you keep most dear
Locked inside your heart.

Let your tears fall, my artist,
Onto the background of your painting.
Each drop makes a cloud about
To downpour your hidden guilt.
Wide strokes you make as you
Finish the final touches on your portrait.

It’s me in your picture.

The idea of a painting forming as i read the poem gave it new depth. the im not sure if the last line works. it seems to almost cheapen the effect it was forming.

This poem, I think, had a good deal of imagery and it was really good. I pictured everything you wrote in this poem.

It is a very well structured poem with a good flow. Good job.
