Icy Waters (Quatern)

by HOLLY ARMER   Apr 6, 2006

The icy waters of your heart
have become rough with hopes of love
bringing waves of desperation
giving my failed attempts a shove

With determination I brave
the icy waters of your heart
riding the rapids of lost dreams
attempting to make our new start

Lightning strikes as I find myself
capsized and floundering within
the icy waters of your heart
with one final breath I descend

Sacrificing myself for love
as I vow that we'll never part
conquering all I'm rescued by
the icy waters of your heart

*Here are the guidlines for a Quatern:
It is a sixteen line French form composed of four quatrains. It has a refrain that is in a different place in each quatrain. The first line of stanza one is the second line of stanza two, third line of stanza three, and fourth line of stanza four. A Quatern has eight syllables per line. It does not have to be iambic or follow a set rhyme scheme.
