Haunted by the Silence

by HOLLY ARMER   Apr 12, 2006

Watching him struggle
so innocent and young
Trapped within oblivion
a melody unsung

Eyes wide with wonder
dreams of normalcy
or at least a fleeting moment
to finally break free

from this total darkness
that paints his everyday
Muddling his thoughts
causing words to stray

Unable to express
these feelings deep inside
Haunted by the silence
damaging his pride

Just living his life
caught within the black
as autism continues
to wager it's attack

Praying for the release
of my precious son
hoping someday soon
his battle will be won
