Where has the decency gone?!

This is a collab between me and my sister Eirisa...something her and I were just talking about...Have you noticed the manners in this world have all dissapeared? Hang tight, I know you will love this piece just as much as we loved writing it!

Where has all the decency gone in this world?
What happened to playful young boys and little girls of crescent curl?
I often wonder what year it was when manners became of less concern
And am I the only one who wishes for basic courtesy to return?

Remember when people had utmost respect for one another?
When manners and appreciation where expressed to each other
I know you see that old woman struggling to make it across the street
Can your hands not help anymore to make it easier on her feet?

I noticed the women now walk closest to the curb
The men of yesterday and our forefathers would be looking down so disturbed
Why did we stop getting up when a lady leaves the room?
What happened to complimenting her hair or perfume?

Kids use to set an apple kindly upon their teachers desk
Now they are so consumed and involved in there own life full of stress
We used to get in trouble for simply cutting in line
Now children are suspended for back chatting all the time

When problems arise why turn to professionals for advice?
Why not family and friends who care and who state no price?
Doctors are paid grossly to change so many women’s essence of style
Not to help with there self image knowing they were beautiful all the while

You use to get beat by your mother when your virginity was careless given away
Now it’s so accepted by society the opinion has swayed the complete opposite way
Teenager’s mouths are out of control, profanity is now allowed and said loud
Parents feel its expressing emotion, they are more than proud

These girls are looking up to celebrities all airbrushed on TV
Remember when their role model was there Mum who they wanted to grow up and be
Now the boys have video games allowing them to rape a prostitute
The media promotes such behaviour and society shortly follows suit

Can I ask what happened to a simple “May I” or “thank you?”
And why have parents stopped setting such young kids a curfew?
How come barely anyone says, “god bless you” after a sneeze?
Basic courtesy like Mister and Misses and yes please.

When children are born, what kind of air will they breathe?
What murderous and sick ideas will society have up its tainted sleeve?
I’m not sure who started this, or where as a people we have gone
But let’s trace back history and see where politeness went wrong

What happened to a world working together to eradicate poverty?
And the desire to help from individuals and better today's society
I'm so disgusted it makes me sick, almost it brings me to tears
How much we think we have gained but really lost over the years.

I want to leave a world of more substance in which my children can live
I want the world to be a better place with more opportunities to give
But I look around me now and shake my head in concern
Sadly I don’t think the next generation will have time to learn.

Because if you look back in history its only gotten worse
That’s why Eirisa and Chelsey decided to lay down this verse
In the hope that some youngsters would listen up clear
And start making a change within themselves to change what’s going on here.
