Come In, Stranger

by †JustAri†   Apr 14, 2006

In the wake of my Naproxen lullaby
An interruption is gradually lured
The shadow of a stranger
Drowns silently at my door

The lurking iris swivels
In crazed curiosity, I imagine
His cavernous pupils contracting livid images
Of what he fears could come to happen

A prisoner of this solitude
I have yet to present my white flag
It will not be hanging out of my window
Nor will it be stuffed through the cracks

The hourglass on the wall
Shivers down to the last grain of sand
What was once ample time is in the aftermath of "too late"
No more chances to make amends

I'm much too lazy to turn over
The hourglass to buy more time
There's no use in attempting anymore
If he's going to leave me out on a line

In the wake of my Naproxen lullaby
An interruption is gradually lured
The shadow of a stranger
Drowning silently at my door
