You Weren't There

by *NiCoLe*   Apr 16, 2006

Stars in the sky shine so bright
nothing but the wind and city lights

so much gone yet so much here
still in my head your voice I hear

standing on the edge of this life
wishing and dying to be your wife

as I lift my foot these memories form
your kisses so gentle, your hands so warm

I lean over the ledge and see your face
I left you there without a trace

my foot is slipping, save me please
I'm begging for you, I'm on my knees

one last time, I rise to my feet
on the ledge, life I can't defeat

only you can save this soul
make my heart once again whole

hurry now I'm falling down
I hate this place, I hate this town

I spread out my arms and down I fall
I hear your voice, I hear you call

It's too late now, gravity won't stop
you scream on the ledge, and watch me drop

I smack the ground, you scream and cry
you never would've thought I would actually die

you finally drop to one knee
and whisper softly, will you marry me?

the sun outside shining so bright
at my funeral you hold me tight

you place a ring on my hand
and on my wrist you snap a band

that same night stars shining so bright
looking at the sky for my delight

gone because you weren't there
I guess life sometimes just isn't fair
