Old, Tired, and Ready

by Daenerys Stormborn   May 12, 2006

My heart is hard and cold as stone
I am overdone and overgrown
My soul has turned to ash and dust
My mind is wrecked from so much rust
The voice I had is now a wheeze
I no longer feel the wind or breeze
The pleasure I once felt from love is gone
I sense no discrepancy in dusk and dawn
The tears I shed dried long ago
My heartbeat is depressed and slow
My painter's hands have lost all use
I tremble and shake from life's abuse
My eyes no longer see simple beauty
In fact, seeing at all seems like a duty
My lips are cracked and unduly parched
My smile brittle and scarcely arched
I am overripe and at my summit
So pluck me off and let me plummet
