A mother's secret battle

by Chelsey   May 16, 2006

I never saw the way you struggled mama
I never noticed when you cried
I couldn’t tell if you were faking it
You never made it obvious when you tried

I didn’t understand your moaning
Your complaining never hit my ear
I’m so sorry I have been that way
Through out these last few years

I just started noticing the doctor visits
There’s been one every week
Something might be wrong with your heart
Oh mama please don’t leave me

You’ve done cat-scans on your head
They say nothings wrong with your brain
But you’ve told the rest of the family
You’ve been experiencing sharp pains

I just pray for positive results
I just pray nothing be wrong
Even though my love is not always shown
I’m fighting with you to be strong

You’ve hid these pains for a while
Please don’t ever do it again
Mama I’ll have the hugest burden
If one of these nights your life ends

A mother’s secret battle
Leaves a daughter in tears
Even though I don’t show it
I’m afraid to wake up without you here

Wow....this poem made me want to cry. I know what its like to lose a mother. Just keep parying, God will be there for you and with you always. It's wonderful that you're writing for her, maybe you should let her read it, I'm sure it'd bring her comfort. I'll keep your mom in my prayers as well.
    love and God bless.

    P.S. 5/5, wonderful writing.

Wow this poem almost brought me to tears. I could really relate.
It is always hard to see someone you love fighting a battle that they may not win. It is even tougher to stand by when there is nothing you can do.
I think this poem speaks volumes about the love you have for your mother even if you haven't been showing it as much lately to her.
This poem was really, really touching.
