It's been years and still...

by Elynnka   May 16, 2006

I went to visit you the other day…
I bought you some pretty flowers on the way
So I can replace those withered ones
Before their death finally comes.

Your gravestone was dusted,
The cross above it a little rusted
And a glass with dying roses was laid
Upon a sentimental inscription once made.

I looked with weary eyes at your picture
That lies underneath an angel’s sculpture
And I prayed to God that you’re up there with Him
And that I needn’t talk for you can hear my thoughts within.

Please forgive me for not coming in the funeral day
I just couldn’t bear the thought that you had gone away…
And even now after all these years, I still cannot,
And don’t worry for your face I haven’t forgot.

Well it’s getting late now and I have to get back home
I’m worried about granny I don’t want to leave her alone…
I’m not saying “Goodbye” but “See you soon!”
As at night I can feel your presence illuminated by the sliver moon…

- This poem is about my late grandpa he died about 4 years ago... I still suffer after him in spite of all this time, so this poem is written in his memory... he was a great man and I loved him a lot!
