Into the Fiery Depths...

by HOLLY ARMER   Jun 1, 2006

I'm addicted to
the ebony decay
of a dead rose
Turning from
the iridescent
on to this path I chose

Littered with hopelessness
and crimson words
of shattered love
As the black vultures
gaze solemnly
from the wilted trees above

Awaiting the end
of my dark
and vengeful delight
A flock of demons
to carry me
swiftly into the night

Far from crystal waters
and my home
of harmonic laughter
Into the fiery depths
of an unjustifiable
diabolic-ever after

*I don't care for the title...so any suggestions would be appreciated.

    I really enjoyed this piece,
"Littered with hopelessness and crimson words of shattered love As the black vultures gaze solemnly from the wilted trees above"
Great imagery! I think the last sentence would be a good title.

Wow, this is so chilling, Holly... The flow to your poetry is just magical. The second stanza is my favorite, but the ending is incredible!

    "of an unjustifiable
    diabolic-ever after"
I love the wording here, amazing!

This poem is just great! Each stanza just adds more and more to this dark world of yours. My personal favorite is stanza one...particularly "I'm addicted to the ebony decay of a dead rose." Such a simple line, yet it seems to hold so much meaning. I'm trying to think of a title, but I can't seem to come up with one...what about..."Cradling a Wilted Rose?" Hmm...I don't know...

    Good write!
