Fairytale

by nicole   Jun 1, 2006

He saw her in the distance a blue eyed beauty fair
and hair of crimson black
He saw her standing there

This maiden from a fairy tale
told him long ago
lips as red as a rose skin as pale as snow

She sang a song clear and proud as though
trying to please a cloud slowly drifting by
went this lovely lullaby

I stand here beside the meadow
ore the mossy glen
Is this the beginning of a fairy tale
Or is it the end

A blue bird sings me his song
As slowly he drifts by
The tune of a lost lover
His life once deprived

Dreams of life once so cherished
Now far out of reach
Everything he ever wished for has
In process trust been breached

He told me of his search the world over
To find her but no where to be found
Was this fellows lost love
Forever to search was his destiny bound

The man upon the ridge that had
seen her at first glance
decided to take a chance
to ask for this maidens hand

to stroll down the street with her
on his arm and look grand
down the ridge he pummeled
at top speed hoping to ascertain
the object of his greed

the girl turned suddenly
the sound of footsteps heard behind
he tried to persuade her of his love
but in his eyes all she could see was a lie

he wanted her as a prize
she wondered how long it would take
from a broken heart would come her demise

but alas his fairy tale would not come true
she was not to be his prize gone askew
love would be her only lure
to in time a happy life pursue

as she gracefully declined
his heart was filled with rage
but she would not hear of being confined to
a loveless cage

she retreated to the depths of the woods
from which she emerged
taken away was his one obsession
back upon the lonely ridge he sunk into depression
his mind filled with thoughts of her
