Evening News

by Ben   Jun 7, 2006

Switch on the old grey box,
its almost 6 on the great clock
lets see whats been occuring
in this great world of ours, stirring

Blast of light flickers the screen
dead pan face, flashing headlines scream
images beamed from across the world
the coffee stained newspapers corners lie curled

Everythings ok, god is on our side
the enemy is dead, blood flows in the evening tide
black men steal, white men are wearing their police badges
we dont need trips to the vatican or the haj\'es

Sit back, relax, the government is your friend
you can rely on them to lend
a helping hand, for a small price
your freedom, your earnings, your life, all of these should suffice

Earthquake, disaster, this is not a test
dont worry, this is all happening in foreign lands, lest
we forget that this is not reality
its only entertainment, it never happens in your state, one technicality

they beg us for help and money
so we send them bags and bags of out of date honey
gratification never seems to come with our gesture
so we draw up invasion, we want our out of date honey back, time to test ya

are you ready to fight for your country, for our out of date honey?
flashes of patriotic colours followed by forced conscirption, you think its funny?
Off we go, camara in hand, informing you where your daddy\'s gone
star flash to commericial, and we\'re back with exposing the desicion you voted for, the con

dead women and children litter the screen all night
we show you your daddy standing over them, you get a fright?
these pictures flood the world, in other sitting room\'s like yours
up to arms! the enemy grab their pitchforks for the cause

Surrender agreements, the enemy\'s pitchforks, symbol of unity
honour in defeat, the label should be enough, despite its impurities,
are you happy? we lost the war becaue you lost your faith
doorbell. your daddy is wheeled in, cant walk, blames it on his last shave

What out of date honey? We fought for liberation and internationalism, filling your mind with words
so long that you just accept, as symbols of your superior thoughts, the herd
please follow it, allows us to feed you your dosage of fear
toothpaste kills, mexicans rape, gun shot, tear, tear

Its almost half past six, my time is slowly running out
time to tell you the weather, tornadoes, hurricanes, buy our sponsers shelters, shout
out stars and stripes when you see an arab
they\'re all dogs, no exception, news flash, they\'re all rabid

30 seconds life on the clock, before you switch off
must finish the hypnosis of control, cough
on the count 3, perhaps its a killer disease, must be those dirty commies
castro and his men, beware, in your backyard, fear, fear, fear, equip with our sponspors tommies.

Fade to black, dead pan face smiles and stares into your eyes
television off, check outside for the falling skies
back to reality, sudden rise in kevlar, racism, guns, death and money
what they all forgot was, this all started with out of date honey

American News is entertaining but not to subtle on the poorly planned biased propaganda
British News is truthful, or atleast they say the rumours and gossip are
Middle Eastern News is to the point and consice, top stories of poor quality recordings of mad men with toy AK-47\'s

If we can\'t blame religion for the state of society, Media seems like a good second choice.
