This feelings expressed in this poem I know all too well. You have done a great job in describing the phases you go thru when trying to get over a past love...which we may never be able to get over.

My favorite stanza was:
Within my heart I'll always love you
You'll forever hold a key
I wish you had realized it sooner
Then it would have been you and me.

This really hit home for me. The poem was sad but inspiring at the same time. True it is better tohave loved and lost than to have never of loved before...but you also inspired me to realize that pure love may never die but there is a way to deal with your emations and move on in life.

The whole entire poem was touching but that stanza just makes me choke up with tears .
A feeling many can relate to at some point in their lives.

You know what? That poem couldnt have been written at a more perfect time. Last night, after a few months of separtation, my ex wanted to see me for a few minutes, and he starred at me, the way you described, then he kissed me and told me he missed me, and i knew, that he was feeling the way the guy in your poem is, im sorry this is happening to you, if it is based on reality, because it is very difficult, but just know, that there is always someone who cares about you somewhere out there, and that if two people are meant to be together, they'll always find a way.
