A Story Of Lies And Heartache

by Nicholas Kerst   Jun 11, 2006

The fire dies, Now only ashes,
Are scattered across her lips, Not pure,
Lies were spoken, The relationship crashes,
She regrets her actions, Of this he's sure.

But he still wonders, Why she did it,
When she knew that nothing good would come,
Questions unanswered, Like why she hid it,
He asks and begs, And gets but a crumb.

He deals out some chances, They wither away,
He loves her so much, Yet he thinks she should pay,
His feelings slowly die, Each and every day,
"But it's over and done with," Is what he really wants to say.

But he doesn't really know, And questions his trust,
But is this worth a love, A relationship . . . lost?
He doesn't want to end it, But wonders if he must,
And wonders If she's worth the anguish she's caused.

"So will love prevail this time," He asks,
"Will there be a happy ending to the story of our hearts?"
He knows he has to vanquish alone this task,
So he take what he knows, And tries to put together the parts.
