Broken ballerina. (smile)

by alyssa   Jun 12, 2006

A tiny ballerina
But three years of age
Quickly fakes a smile
As shes pushed upon the stage

The audience is silent
She captivates the crowd
Who could the lucky parents be?
They must be very proud.

Her makeup sits in layers
Hair neatly tucked in place
But no one even notices
The extras on her face.

For that smile she is faking
Surely makes them stop and stare
And she finishes her routine
As if no one else is there.

For years dance was a constant
Though her life was changing fast
It kept that smile on her face
As it had done in the past.

But she soon enough grew tired
As it became more of a chore,
And she put away her dancing shoes
Locked behind a closet door.

Tucked neatly away
Cause she didnt want to find
The dance that used to be her life
Now choreographed into her mind.

But though her hobby sadly tarnished
Along with frames of dancing art
That three year olds smile reminded her
Of a dance engraved in her heart.
