A friend found at last

by nicole   Jun 15, 2006

Tears of scarlet red
dripping down her arms
she was ready to give up
life had worn away all its charms

she had done it all
the drugs the alcohol the relationships to
but she was lost still waiting for her fairytale dream to come true

her friends all did it
so heck why not?
this battle no longer is worth being fought

her parents were getting a divorce
she had been abused when she was young
every sad song you can think of this poor girls life Had sung

she struggled with depression
if you can call it a fight
she was quiet all day long
no one heard her screams at night

there was this girl at school Valerie
the weird one nice to everyone
she didn't have many friends
the drugs & booze she had shrugged

Valerie said she loved this guy named Jesus weird she always thought Valerie said that life was worth living the battle worth being fought

she this girl that I'm describing
still didn't understand
once when everything was its worst
she had fallen and Valerie had helped her up taken her hand

she did the whole Christian scene for awhile sure it was ok
but she had done this a couple times before it always happened this way

someone would come in to her life want to convert her but not really care she would walk around with them for awhile avoiding all her *Friends* stares

but after awhile it would get old
nothing new to do
so she would go back to her way of life the fairy tale still didn't come true

but she didn't understand this girl
even when things went bad
Valerie have may cried she may have been sad
but she said that way more than she ever could this guy Jesus felt bad

the love Valerie said He had for her
that He loved everyone
that He had shown this love through the death of His son

she couldn't understand*
she felt so much pain
why would He die for her
and take on all her shame?

for her life take the blame?

one day she was sitting alone
decided to end this pain
it cut through her heart every single day

she prayed one prayer to this God
that Valerie held so near
she prayed for a sign that someone cared to prove He held her dear

she didn't get a reply after an hour so assumed He wasn't real
this Valerie girl could go fly a kite
but her life was at an end
as her arm touched steel

she was about to make one more final cut
to bring her life to the end
she only had one regret
that she never had a real friend

that no one would care when she was dead and gone
that no one knew her dreams
that no one had loved her for anything except for her body
and pittied her low self esteem

just as she was about to drive the knife into her wrist she heard someone ask her to stop
they asked her just to wait
and that blood drenched knife to drop

she was startled
& whirled around but not a cruel thing was to be found
the only thing there to see
was the tiny girl named Valerie

what*** what are you doing here she managed to stammer
but this was so strange
her prayer had been answered

I was on my way home from school
thinking on my way
and suddenly I heard a voice
your an answer to prayer I heard it say

I didn't understand at first
I knew that it was God
I asked Him to be more specific
I began to pray and prod

He said to think of someone I cared about
He said to think about someone that didn't believe He held them dear

He said I was an answer to prayer and to quickly get here

the girl dropped to her knees the blood still trickling down
she asked God why He didn't want her to die

why He'd sent Valerie to answer her prayer and why He'd waited till the last minute to show her He was there

she asked Valerie to help her to know this Jesus more
Valerie got on her knees
and helped her pray

she doesn't hurt herself anymore*
