Little Birdie

by Fig   Jun 24, 2006

(a poem i wrote a long time ago, its not fantastic)

Sing for me little birdie
Sing your warm sweet song
For all the other music
Has slowly died and gone

I hide you in your little cage
And listen in the night
Your breast is of the deepest red
But your wings are purest white

Your notes are sharp and painful
But they satisfy
They cut deep to the soul
And help me while I cry

I hide you in your little cage
And listen in the night
Your breast is of the deepest red
But your wings are purest white

But now your colors fading
Your feathers turning grey
Your tail is torn and ragged
It slowly falls away

You're lying in your little cage
And dying in the night
I've left you for the daytime
To go and seek the light
