Summer's Grip

by Flying Phoenix   Jul 2, 2006

The hazy sunshine's symptom of summer
Filters through the spring brought leaves
As the breeze of autumn cools
The winter's act upon the trees
Spherical dew drops scatter the grass
And spiders weave on through
Climbing blades of mountain height
Their secret traps to those that flew
The endless heat swelters on
So causing new growth to wither
Forever rainless parched dry ground
The fear of drought makes them shiver
Yet there across the harsh horizon
Strays a lone grey cloud
The first few drops of life it brings
Along with the thunder's striking sound
The summer's grip on heat does go
And the seasons once again do turn
Heralding the gold's and riches
As autumns chance now does burn
