Fallen Kingdom

by Daenerys Stormborn   Jul 5, 2006

Sweet sarcasm rumbling through the halls
Of empty rooms with empty tapestries
Hollow wounds fill the wounded walls
Where once brave cavalries and infantries
Watched solemnly through kingdom falls
Smashing the tales of hope and victories
Whilst the forthcoming executioner calls
To sever sweet lies from cruel memories

Knights clad in black armor stand steadfast
Smoldering courage demanding praise
By broken men who stare wide-eyed; aghast
Haunted by the unwavering visor slit gaze
Pondering what could have been in the past
Long ago when certitude filled all days
How could such a determined army not last?
How could such sureness become a maze?

It felt like something I might write if I actually decided on writing something because I am definitely into the whole knight/fantasy thingy. Of course this is far better than anything I might do. Really loved the imagery and the second stanza. Some of the word play in the first was just a tad much. Some really cool words that added to the images. Liked the first line with how it gripped attention. Nicely done.
