What would your letter say?

by Krissey   Jul 6, 2006

I sat down on my bed today, a pen and paper in my hand.
My thoughts came out in a letter, unlike the poetry I had planned.
“Dear God,” I started out, “this must really make you sad,
To see the way people live their lives today. I know it makes me mad.”

I knew I could talk to God since he was my best friend
But instead I looked up and put down the pen
I thought of other people and what there thoughts would be
If they wrote a letter that they knew God would read

What would they say? Would they know where to start?
Would they write what was in their mind, or what was in their heart?
Would they complain about their lives? Or worse, blame God for it all?
Would they know he always caught them, Or just think he let them fall?

Would they say “Lord I have a confession to make,
I honestly hated you for letting my heart break”
Or “Lord I’ve pushed you aside for too many years
And I’ve forgotten to turn to you with my cold running tears”

Maybe they would fall to their knees, let their tears hit his feet.
They'd cry out for his forgiveness, ask to be made complete.
God would help them up, and look them in the eye.
He'd say, “Sweet child.. you are beautiful. None love you more than I.”

Perhaps some wouldn’t be selfish, but better thank him for what he’s done
Would they write “the world is hell, but thanks for the hearts you’ve won”?
Would anyone write “Dear God my family is in need and I have not a clue,
Of how I can get a miracle, this is why I turn to you”

Would they even write a letter, or just think it was a waste of time?
Maybe they think that God won't listen, because they feel worse than slime.
How can we, the believers, change their hearts and help them see?
Let's show them the Lord, his promises, his awesomeness, and glory.

Let me leave you with these last final words
God wants you to realize your voice can be heard
So listen my sister, my brother, my friend
God hears your every word, so put down your pen

    Beautiful poem... I'm speechless.

All I know is I'm definitely going to show this one to my youth pastor.
