Smile, Useless Soul

by herewithme   Jul 21, 2006

Dark, silent, sinister night
Yearning for the hidden light,
But it's been stowed, safely from sight.
Look as you may, try as you might.

Abandoned, cold, frightened child
Running from a father, so wild
Broken spirit and bruises, mild.
Wished for a home that always smiled

Grey, eerie scary day.
A man on the corner pulls the children astray.
He gives them a final chance to pray
Then shoves their poor bodies, far far away.

Another sad and lonely time
For a family of victims of a horrible crime
One more hour, one more chime
As they wait for a shiver to run down their spine

Fearful, worried, teenage girl
Wonders what happened to the world
She cries every night, to let her feelings unfurl
All because of the ruined pearl.

Ugly, strict, politicians rule
Their eyes covered their judgment , cruel
One more election, another re-newal
Of a dimwitted P.M stealing money from schools.

Tired, angry, worn out soul
No one of importance left on patrol
Of an unfair world they can't control
The brains, anger the hatred evolves

Wow this is really good. You wrote about the despair people have when there's just nothing they can do about the horrible things happening to their world and them as well.

    Nice work!
