Fascination

by Melissa   Jul 27, 2006

I'm enthralled by those certain girls
who sport red lipstick
and wear chihuahuas as an accessory

You know the the kind,
they own stiff bouffants
and slip on leopard print platforms,
so their stubbiness appears five inches taller

I half expect that one day,
they'll say hi to me
and like a small minded dog
I'll gallop to their side
with my tail wagging, tongue drooling self
ready and willing to please

They'll pat my ignorant head
and at once,
my tiny lips will smile candy apple red,
my toes will become hip to the scene,
and I'll sit coolly at the local pub
smoking Virginia Slims,
while chatting about dirty dishes
and boys who think they're men

Then maybe, just maybe
some stupid girl
will be fascinated by me

Great poem. The loose structure somehow added to the obscurity of what the poem was about. Loved it!

You are the master. You can take any scene and make it seem larger than life. You can the ordinary abstract. Brilliant poem. I love it!

Awww, that's a really neat poem. Lol, some girls are really rotten and intimidating. Especially the way they talk about guys. The ones you wrote about, sound like the ones that talk about their own friends behind their back. Like in Mean Girls. You are fascinating Melissa. From your poetry you seem like a really sweet person and I definitely think you were interesting. Also a very good poet :)
