Keep the Children Safe

by Connie   Jul 28, 2006

WHO can help us to protect the children
From their own parents that does drugs?

WHAT can we do to change the laws
So the children will be taken from these homes?

WHEN will those that can help these children
Really listen when someone puts in a complaint?

WHERE can a grandparent or aunt and uncle go
To get someone to take it seriously and investigate?

WHY should a child have to be subjected
To being around a parent that does drugs?

Its good that you have brought a matter like this to others attention ,I liked it ,the sad thing is though its not just the drugs we need to protect children from ,and its not always the fault of the parents.

This is a very serious problem today, the kids are the ones that suffer.
its good that you are letting people know.

No offence Connie, but this could SO be structured into a solid piece of poetry with a clear and distinct message. You have the way with words, and you have the content. Plus, personally speaking I always find the topic of "drugs" to be horribly misleading and invariably misrepresented.

I would like to see this rewritten with rhyme and descriptions based on experience rather than the vagueness of "subjected to being around a parent that does drugs". It doesn't detail, and "drugs" are a difficult thing to pin down fairly.

I really like the idea. However this isn't really poetry it's more like prose. Maybe make it a little longer. And answer the question "why?" by providing an example of a child with troubled parents.
