Rock And Roll Boy.

by Ironic Allure   Aug 13, 2006

There was a time, with a beat in your heart,
You'd sing her name with pleasure.
While I lay stiff with jealousy, waiting on the other side,
The dirty secret hidden underneath the covers,
Knowing you'd be here in time.
I know inside you loved the thrill,
You had an acquired taste for the chase,
And it was time for overkill.
We were looking good, but just as friends,
Oh but we weren't the only ones,
There's plenty more where we came from,
Making rules for the moment, to justify our rights,
Purely making sounds for the messed up kids;
When we lack a little love, it's our heyday, baby,
And we grace the matters with indelible fashion,
Playing the records, just to simply get off on the words,
That fall through you and sometimes fool you,
Into thinking you can react.
Because it's apathy and ecstasy and nothing in between,
While you lie still in thinking
He's more than just some broken-down routine.
And all that I've learnt from this is that,
It's more than it's cracked up to be,
So let's all cheer for apathy,
With half-hearted smiles and cliched claps,
After all, we really don't care.
Sometimes fate forgets we're there,
But no worries, baby, we'll bend the truth and you'll always win.
With a sweaty mattress and a drunken grin,
You're wasting time on things that don't matter much at all,
There's always drink and skinny girls to take the pain away,
At least, that's what the lyrics and scuffed converse always say.
Because even though from time to time,
It goes a little out of tune,
The melody's still loud and clear from the rock and roll boy's room.
