Weary Traveler

by Twisted Heart   Aug 26, 2006

Do you suppose there is a place
Where love exists without conditions
Where hearts unite in time and space
Where hate is put in remission.

Is there a place where you can be
A soul without despair and grief
Where you can go and feel the breeze
of sweet contentment and relief.

To find a place that you can soar
Above the worries and the pain
A place that unearths your very core
Letting love and joy remain.

But though this weary traveler seeks
That lovely place to lay my heart
A dream of peace and harmony
Has been distant from the start.

So answer me, kind sir, I plead
Upon this hostile world I search
Is there a place to plant the seed
Of pure contentment on this Earth.

For if with love we cannot stand
Above the lines of hidden truths
Are we but figments on this land
Forever lost and destitute.

I think this poem needs to end with a question mark. The message is solid, but the whole thing is a question.
