A Time To Dream

by Twisted Heart   Sep 4, 2006

On a summer day in June
I took a rocket to the moon
Just to see if it were true
That it was made of cheese
I landed in a crater there
Opened up the hatch with care
Noticed I could breath the air
And exited it with ease.

There wasn't any gravity
So to keep my levity
I staked myself haphazardly
To the rocket ship
Then I reached down to scoop
A handful of the surface root
It felt so much like chicken soup
That it made me sick.

I walked around upon the moon
That summer day in Mid June
Now singing quite a different tune
Than the one that I sang before
No longer do I think of cheese
When the moon I look up to see
I now have to face reality
Not letting my imagination soar.

To be a child with such thoughts
To shatter dreams that wisdom's brought
I wish that I could forget the lot
Letting my mind run free
To hold the world in my hands
With glimpses of that wonderland
Stealing all of times old sand
And live again in dreams.

Whoa.... it's like a strange, more mature nursery rhyme. I like the rhyme scheme - It keeps the tone lighter, but doesn't veil your more serious message
