East of the Sun

by Michael D Nalley   Sep 15, 2006

East of the sun west of the moon
Eros dancing to a different tune
Daughters of Zeus are the muses
The legends that language abuses

Heavenly myths search for a home
From ancient Egypt, Greece to Rome
Immortal creatures of celestial birth
Doomed divinities descending to earth

Malevolently mating with mankind
Only to prove that their love is blind
Born from Chaos Eros entered our Psyche
Discovering what erotic love was like

Look what that mad angel has done
West of the moon east of the sun
Teachers teach while preachers preach
Our desires are just out of reach
