Closet Of Your Mind

by Peter DeJesse   Sep 16, 2006

There's a little known fact
That somewhere in your head
Is a closet in which you store
All the things you dread

You spend all of your time
Trying to hide them from view
They are just too painful
But it keeps you from being you

It is not just memories that you hide
There are voices also within
Crying out to you to face them now
Ignoring those voices is a sin

Everyone has within them
Unresolved issues that cause pain
But hiding them in that closet
Just will not stop the rain

It may be decades and decades
Before they break out of your mind
Just know that when they do
They will not be unkind

The only way to safely set them free
Is to slowly let go of your fears
There will be such a feeling of relief
That will last all of your remaining years

Great write... Very opening. There is always something that we hide, and you are right... It shouldn't hide there to gather the dust.
