The Obsession 2

by Audrey   Sep 18, 2006

She lay like her mother; no tears in her eyes
a thousand little flames around her bed flickered and died
he was always there watching; she thought it was in her mind
He scared her, he knew; he always had in moments, that quickly fleeted by

as her panicked expression grew, the heat in his body rose
she picked up the razor she always kept by her bed
and studiously cut jagged marks across her skin
it steadied her and she could breath; relief came as she watched the red wine flow

he had given her the appetite for painful comfort; she had never given him the same
but instead forced emotion back into his mind
She grew paler still and flicked her tongue over the self made wounds
it was metallic bliss in her parched mouth

She wiped it on her finger and gently spread it on her lips
gazing in the mirror she smiled; a slightly crazed look on her face
he had never hated as deeply; never wanted, never needed
never shed the tears he held inside unheaded

it was her fault he reasoned; she had opened the proverbial can of worms
she didnt understand the need to force his hand
to cater to the thrill of punishment; to keep his darker side at bay
she wouldnt then play his absent mothers role

To kiss those blood red lips... he thought
but no, he must stay away
