The cross country runner

by John (Mr. Whuppy)   Sep 22, 2006

A long distance runner doesn't have to run fast
But he needs the energy to last and last
If it's cross country that he likes to do
he will need the stamina to pull him through
To run in the mud through the sleet and the rain
to jump and to leap for the lead he must gain
The fields to manouver the rivers to cross
all this he must do without getting lost
The worst of his nightmares is lost in the fog
or losing his footing whilst traversing a bog
Besides all these that are not meant to be
loneliness and heartache are the worst you see
So if you see this runner a-running his race
don't scoff him for losing his energy and pace
support him and cheer him thats what to do
he's running this marathon for me and for you
