The Ultimate Sin (Re: Suicide)

Have you ever had your hopes so high?
Dreams of your abilities to fly
Only to have them come crashing down
A lonely princess without her crown.
Wanting something or someone so very bad
To complete your happiness and eradicate you're sad
A desire, a yearning to feel finally complete
As the world as you knew it crashes beneath your feet.
And just when you think it maybe, it might
All work out for the best that things are going to be alright
You lose your essence in your despair for hope
You forfeit your fight and your very will to cope
Refusing to battle on, selfishly you give up
Watching your storm brew in your little tea cup
Then remember words you should hold so dear
You are one of life's soldiers and that's why you are here
There's no need to give up on the here and the now
God is watching you closely it'll all work out some how
Cause no matter how bad you believe things may be for you
Someone else always has something worse to go through
So count your blessings and graciously hold them near
For God has a reason for us all to be here
We all make mistakes, yes, sometimes we are wrong
But His love eternally forgives, we just need to stay strong
So if you think you can't handle it, you hold too much fear
Always remember you have destined purpose or you wouldn't be here
You owe it to yourself and you owe it to Him
To deliver what was planned for you, not selfishly commit the ultimate sin.

    That is such a moving poem! I absolutely love the message you're putting accross, and its so uplifting. You manage to write about suicide in a very unique way and not in the cliched style I tend to find in this site.

    "So count your blessings and graciously hold them near
    For God has a reason for us all to be here"
    Those few words have so much reason and meaning behind them.

    I can only thank you for writing this piece, it's simply amazing.

    That couplet is amazing. It's so true for a lot of people, sometimes giving up seems to be the only option but in the long run, thats the worst decision anyone can make..
    That point came across perfectly in this piece..

    That was incredibly beautiful, although I have no religious beleifs, I thought the meaning and the strength of this poem was wonderful, It also gave me an insight into your beliefs, which I always find interesting...

    If only all those people could understand what you put across so well in this poem..

    "Someone else always has something worse to go through"

    That line is incredibly true and bold..

    This is so incredibly true Risa . On the days I feel sluggish, sick and weak I remind myself that there are so many others that have it much worse than I . And that gives me the strength to get my butt moving .
    Your words have moved me . Wonderfully written poem with so much meaning .
