Starry Soul

by Erica Jovie©   Nov 13, 2006

Sometimes I lay by my window
..and stare up into the sky
and every so often
it's covered by a blanket of glowing stars
I gaze up...
and am mesmerized by their grasping light
they look back into my eyes
and smile
as i try to forget
all the times they have failed me
Their hands reach down into my soul
and attempt to mend
the heart they've shattered time and time again
I'm lost in the feeling they hold upon me
as their fingertips slowly brush the temples of my face
and wipe the tears from my eyes
the eyes that have been pulled into a world of it's own
...of hope and all my dreams
of what was and what could have been
taking me away from all reality
chills run from my heart to my fingertips
as i fall deeper into loves curse
I try to pull from the pain as my eyes grow wet
as a tear falls from my face to their's
and suddenly, my eyes are open
and i stare
into the face of an angel
i throw my arms forward
but fall short of strength to hold on

... i am left with nothing
but a blanket of stars
looking through a window
into nights hypnotizing sky
wondering why the most beautiful things
inflict the most scars
thebeauty of a diamond
but sharp as glass
as a starry sky
is only a piece of the truth
that has scarcely come
