Blossoms of Bliss and Petals of Peril

by Elynnka   Nov 13, 2006

Thy green eyes glisten when you see
The beauty blooming in front of thee -
These roses seem made out of snow
And the garden whitens as more roses grow.

Their sweet perfume such a delight
Only persists in the full moon night
As the cold silver beams outline
These beauties in a way so sublime.

Two lovers found shelter here -
In this garden you feel without fear,
Everything around seems covered in bliss,
But many lovers here shared their last kiss.

White roses lure you into their trap
They poison you with their dripping sap
And fragile petals fall gently on your face
To hide the flesh decaying in disgrace…

A raven from afar sings with grief,
Black feathers fall for a funeral motif
As the roses are slowly turning red
Like the color of the innocent blood shed.

This is interesting. Good imagery. Although this is not my favorite category, I feel compelled to read them because your forms were so good. Nice job!

Wow, great poem. I enjoyed all of the intense imagery, and you truly showed your originality in this poem. Lots and lots of unique ideas--rose made of snow, beauty so sublime, poisonous dripping sap, roses turning red, etc...great job! 5/5
