A Stranger in the Distance

by Rachel   Nov 19, 2006

I sit here under the stars,
While I'm sewing up my wounds.
The glow of the stars
Soak up the last thoughts of you that I have,
Into the dark heavens.
When the sun starts to rise,
You're nothing more than the stranger in the distance.
My mind blocks out everything that you were,
All the destructive behaviors you brought to yourself,
Your family, and me.
That painful time is now behind me, forgotten.
Free of mental abuse,
I feel like I can breathe again.
The lasting rays of the sun as it sets,
Clears my mind, sets it straight.
And by nightfall,
You're are nothing but a memory,
A stranger in the distance.
