Obsessions [Sijo]

by Jessica   Nov 29, 2006

Piles of pills lay on hard floors, obsessions she cannot fight
Gaining satisfaction from pain, fighting against a strong body
Gazing into a hole of dark, my death I avoided tonight..

Sijo is a poetry type consisting of 3 lines. Each line contains 14-16 syllables each.

A pause breaks each line in the middle. The last half of the final line is usually shorter than the rest, and contains no fewer than 5 syllables.

The first line introduces a problem, the second develops it, and the third is a resolution. Sijo is a type of poetry that is meant to be sung.

I really do not like the style at all. I just didn't feel this poem like I did the rest of your poems... It just didn't have your essence around it, if that makes sense. Sorry to be so harsh.
However, it isn't a 4.0 poem, quite. More like a 4.7... So, I'll give you the 5. Sorry, sweetie. Just my opinion.

Wow, that was a deep poem. Short, but it tells a story. Not in detail, but the readers can make it up as they read. Nicely done!

Wow! I looked at this style, and it seemed so very difficult. You did an amazing job of it. This has so much power and meaning in such a short poem. You nailed it! Excellent write. =] 5/5
