Tragic Beauty

by TRAGiC BEAUTY   Dec 12, 2006

She strikes a pose for the camera
Smiles that smile so white
Though you see this happy girl
Nothing in her life is right

She goes home to an abusive husband
Then she covers the bruises each day
She tries to forget the fights
She tries to wish the pain away

She wakes up each morning
Straightens or curls her beautiful hair
Pounds the make-up on her face
Then, she picks out what to wear

No one knows who she is
No one knows the person inside
No one knows the tragic beauty
The person that chooses to hide

    Excellent
It can be hard writing this sort of poem but you did a brilliant job portaying the way women hide it.
Loved the imagery you created on this one.

So sweet and beautiful. It's true, most people in abusive relationships don't tell anyone and then it's too late. Wonderful topic, I loved reading it. Though I don't know when I'll get to your other poems, you submit so fast! lol. I love them all though. 5/5 on this one.
