I'm Dreaming of You.

by Not Bulletproof   Dec 17, 2006

"If you're sleeping, are you dreaming?
If you're dreaming, are you dreaming of me?"

And I dreamed we crossed a bridge together;
hand in hand and step, step, step.
We walk right through the city and leave behind
the clutter and all that city weather;
we're taking a step into my mind,
and into the far reaches of time.

Now here we are, and you are you -
as I am me -
and none of this is confusing.
We speak the words we want to,
and we are free.

This is my favorite place to go
in the middle of the day.
This is my hideout that no one knows.
Shh, don't tell, I'll take you there,
come on darling, let's walk this way.

So here we are, and you see, I'm me,
and if you try, you can be you.
Doesn't it feel good to truly be?
Yeah, you can come here anytime that you want to,
chances are that I'll be here waiting for you.

So we've got plans to rendezvous at 10 o'clock,
we'll go to my secret place and sit on the dock,
telling stories we've been wanting to hear,
and holding hands as we look off the pier.
Oh, how nice it is to be us,
I love you so much more.

Oh look, here we are, it's you, and it's me;
we seem to have reached an inner peace,
oh, and look at us; we are so happy.
I've never felt so clean and so true,
as I do when I come to here with you.
I'm glad you could join me.

Now the alarm sounds and I'm fully aware;
I'm awake and I look around.
How horrible of reality to take me from there.
I'm awake and not so safe or sound.

But that's okay, tonight I'll take you there again,
and we'll be happy, and we'll be free together.
We'll walk across the bridge, and into the depths of my head,
where what I want to do is done,
and what I want to hear is said.
I'll take you to a place where you and I are forever;
a place only I could truly ever see.
