Homecoming

by Clarissa   Dec 17, 2006

Anticipation and expectations
Rushed through my mind that day
You were finally back home
Too long since you ve been away

My eyes had met yours
A funny smile on my face
The only one I wanted
No one could ever replace

A party of you return
With lots alcohol and dancing
I gazed at you in a corner
Then you saw me standing

Bringing me closer to you
Placing your sweet lips on mine
It felt perfect like a movie
As if it was acted line after line

As night approached
In the heat of the moment
I said I loved you
Unknowing how to show it

Gently laying with you
The skies were so dark
Every time I looked at your body
It was a journey to embark

As the months had passed
Still looking so stunning
Feelings had changed
I ll never forget the day of your homecoming

The romantic imagery in this poem is outstanding, yet the smooth rhyme did not distract me from the beautiful emotion expreessed.
