Change

by Michael   Jan 2, 2007

Life is a paved roadway;
it can be smooth
and it can even swerve,
until something darts in your path
and you cannot stop.

My heart danced on a Congo drum
as my words stuttered over the railroad track
when my parents said, "We're moving."

Suddenly, brakes fail
as friends rush past window
with shopping bags from Borders
and half full Starbucks coffee.

I turn sharply right,
as the road merges into "Point of No Return" Street,
while I travel on the hardships
to find myself making an abrupt
halt.

I breath again,
slowly moving forward
and begin to drive slowly
on the road of my life.

A poem I was suppose to do for school, which was pretty good of my class. :D However, I was honored of being the class poet and lost again in the semi-finals :( Two years and I should have won...oh well...

    Anyways, Please comment and enjoy!
