Abstract Reasoning

by Michael D Nalley   Jan 14, 2007

We have stood naked before the sun
While our tender skin was burned
Thought of the universal One
Yet everything was not learned

We have measured inklings of time
With the movement of the revolving earth
Recorded history in prose and rhyme
Not fully understanding what it is worth

We have sought knowledge of love
With the rhythm of our wandering heart
Crawled through hell before looking above
To capture the sky with our poetic art

We have built a stairway to the stars
So a proud king is eternally entombed
Divided religion, and have borne the scars
Fearing not, that we were born to be doomed

Through the ages we have held on to the hope
That the good in us would triumph with every breath
In an ever-changing evolution mankind has to cope
Seeking eternal life while facing seasons of death

This piece is awesome. You have yet again penned an excellent piece. In fact, this piece seems to be a perfect piece, or as close to one as it can get.
