That's a Rap

by Bryan Raff   Jan 22, 2007

I've been paying my dues for years and years,
Been reppin' the streets just for ends meat,
But through it all, past the tears,
I still remain a boy, as if lost, but still with a ploy

To make it to the top, that's my only ambition,
Even though it's tough, can be mentally rough,
I'll starve out the competition like a war of attrition,
Even when I'm at the top, I'll never stop.

Because this is my life, don't you get it?
Making rhymes and at the drop of a dime,
You can see me spit it,
I put it on the map, and yeh, that's a rap.

This is the first slang poem I have read on here, and I have to say I quite enjoyed it.
Original and unique in concept, and I liked the imagery used.
