Promises

by LonelyKnights   Jan 30, 2007

These things you say you will do
Those two words you always say
They mean nothing to me
They just come and go

Like the tide
These words are empty
Their just words
And nothing more

No matter how much you make them sound good
They will never be anything but words
Nothing but emptiness
Nothing at all

You say them like you think
They mean something to me
Like I believe them
Well guess what I do not

They are nothing but words love
Nothing more
These two words
I Promise

They are empty
Like the lies we both own
Nothing but empty promises
We will never be free from them

Firstly, go to edit and fix the random characters. It does that when it receives characters the website is unfamiliar with. Sometimes simple apostraphes don't work because they're an odd font, or something.

But yeah, I liked this poem, because I had no idea it was about 'thank you'. It's misleading, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. But it makes me sad that you say thank you means nothing to you.
I'll try to cut back on saying it, but I can't think of any better way to let you know how grateful I am to even speak with you each day.
Well, I love you, and I hope you continue writing a lot : ).
