Darkness

by Areia   Feb 6, 2007

Covering up the doubt
I go about
I am your worst fear,
You hear me whisper in your ear,
"Fear the darkness, shun the light,
Join the creatures of the night!"
I end life,
I cause strife,
I accompany pain,
Again and again,
I am the dark, the pain, the death,
I am your last breath.
I am the shadows in your mind,
The little voice your hear all the time,
Telling you to give in to fear,
Because there is no light or love or happiness here.
I am darkness. I am the night.
I am the absence of the light.
I am your fear. I am your pain.
I am your darkest fantasy. I drive you insane.
I begin the night,
And, with it, fright.
But with the day
I run away.
You see my flight
From the light,
But I'll be back another day,
And then, I'll be back to stay.
