Ashes to Ashes

by Adam Murphy   Feb 14, 2007

I don't love you anymore
thats all he had to hear..
the phone bounces off the floor
the gun goes to his ear
thoughts of her start flooding
all throughout his mind
how'd he make this happen
The answers just too hard to find
his finger against the trigger
cold steel against his skin
his shattered heart is screaming
demanding to know why he let her in
...but she said it would be OK
she said that it was true
now broken promises float away
and theres just one thing left to do
He should have been more careful
and watched out for that fall
but when offered something perfect
you just don't think to stall
he loves the way she smiles
how she would grin when he stared
he even loves her red face
when shed get pissed off and glare
Now the tears start to come
he tries to hold them in
pulls back the hammer with his thumb
just as they start to win
he never thought she would leave him
he never thought he'd hear those words
but his actions pushed her away
and thats exactly what he heard
he knows thats his fault
that it was his mistake
and knowing that makes it all
just too hard to take
theres nothing he could do
to make all this OK
no magic word to be said
that will take it all away
inside he's dead already
with every breath he's rotting
his soul had got a wound
that simply isn't clotting
theres no way he can fix this.
the past just cant be changed
he cant make her forget
the mistakes that hes made

But he cant f^(* this up.
the end is now in sight
he squeezes against the trigger
thunder fills a starry night.

I think this was Metaphorical. It wasn't the boy who died, it was actually just the boys love for the girl, the love he thought never would die.

I don't know if i like it or hate it.

    Um. wow.
    This was amazing.
It was sad, because the boy shouldn't have died. He should have thought rationally, but then again, there wouldn't be a poem if he did.
    great write. wonderful descriptions.
