Civil Knight

by Gasttlee   Feb 20, 2007

There was once a leader
who was more than a reader.

This was a man
with an everlasting plan.

This man had strength
of an immeasurable length.

He stood strong
fighting total wrong.

He showed promise
pure as Saint Thomas.

He was as sharp as a dart
for he was very smart.

His goal was peace
from west to east
so evil would cease
for love to increase.

He strongly believed in unity
of worldwide community
for all opportunity.

He had an iron fist
bashing through mist
of every gist
with no resist
but selfless resist.

This man always did the right thing
and his name was Martin Luther King.

Good poem. The ending surprised me but it all made perfect sense. The write was so nice I had to read it twice.
