POOR OLD MAN

by ALLEN CEM   Apr 10, 2007

THERE ONCE LIVED A MAN
WITH ALL THE WEALTH AND FAME

NOT A SINGLE SOUL PASSED
THAT DID NOT KNOW HIS NAME

EVERYWHERE HE WENT HE WAS LOVED
PEOPLE SCATTERED AROUND

AS IF HE WAS A KING
HE WAS RESPECTED WITHOUT A CROWN

HE WOULD BUY GIFTS
FOR EVERYONE THAT CAME ACROSS HIS WAY

HIS FAN BASE KEPT GROWING
EACH AND EVERY DAY

WHAT HE DID NOT REALIZE
WAS THE PRICE HE HAD TO PAY

PRETTY SOON HE LOST EVERYTHING
WITHOUT A PLACE TO STAY

AS TIME WENT ON PEOPLE SAW
HE STARTED TO ROAM THE STREETS

NOT ONLY WITHOUT A PLACE TO STAY
BUT NOTHING LEFT TO EAT

WITH PEOPLES GOSSIP
ABOUT THE MAN WHO USED TO HAVE IT ALL

THE RESPECT AND ALL THE LOVE
SLOWLY STARTED TO FALL

NOT SEEING WITH HIS GOOD DEED
THIS MAN FELL APART

HE TRIED TO THINK HOW HE GOT
THERE AND THOUGHT ABOUT THE START

SOON NO ONE WOULD TALK TO HIM
NOT EVEN LOOK HIS WAY

THIS MAN WHO HAD IT ALL
WAS ON HIS KNEES TO PRAY

HE THOUGHT IT WAS A DREAM FOR
THINGS TO CHANGE SO SUDDENLY OVER NIGHT

AT FIRST HE WAS THE CENTER OF
ATTENTION AND NOW HE IS OUT OF SITE

LIFE TO HIM WAS USELESS
JUST SO UN FARE

THE MAN PASSED FROM STARVING
WITH NO ONE THERE TO CARE

MONEY MADE HIS FRIENDS AND HE SHARED
BEST AS HE CAN

THIS IS A SHORT STORY OF POOR OLD MAN
