Love Me For Me

Ever since I was little
Its always been like this:
"You gotta talk more"
"You gotta do this"
"You gotta be like HER"

It pains me to hear
You don't like me the way I am
You want me to change
What I've been for years
You expect me to be more out-spoken
When all I am is shy

You expect me to do things
I'm incapable of doing
You expect me to be someone I'm not

You love a person for who they are
Not what they pretend to be
If this is true
Then why don't you love me?

All I want is people to love me the way I am
& not try to change me
Or tell me how to be
All I want is to be ME!

**Always be yourself, not someone else!!**

    ''you expect me to be someone I'm not''

    I adore that line...how true it is for to many people...

    I thought this was beautiful...the emotion can be seen through the words and the ending is wonderfully wrapped up and hard hitting.

    I LOVE this poem.. Such a great message. But such a sad point though. If people would love me for me, i probably wouldn't write some of the poems I write. But hey...
