Keep Fighting Lili

by Phoebe   Apr 12, 2007

-A friend of mine has another friend, who has cancer. This is written from the person with Cancer's POV-

Stay strong, my dearest friend,
Though I know it must be hard,
I never dreamt that this would happen,
That we'd ever have to part.

Keep your chin up, my darling,
For there is still a chance,
after all we've been through,
Friendship, breakdowns, romance.

I'll keep fighting, as hard as I can,
but I want you by my side,
I don't think I can do this alone,
You cannot simply hide.

I didn't mean to hurt you so bad,
You understand, this hurts me too,
But after my chemo, when I'm OK,
I'll come and say sorry to you.

We mustn't give up our hopes now,
Don't worry about the pain I feel,
My hair will grow back, I'll be strong again,
and my scars, my clothes will conceal.

I love you, my friend,
Wait for me, and I'll wait too,
And as soon as I can, I promise,
That I will come, and say I'm sorry,
and I'll make it up to you.
